What People are Saying
“What is the definition of value? The dictionary defines value as “the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.
I took the time to review this report, and the value that I have found is immeasurable. Taking the information that has been compiled in this report allows me to “grade” my business and compare our standings to other firms and practitioners. Some of the demographic statistics are surprising and gives the reader a peek into where the future of our industry is going. Other information reinforces thoughts and idea’s already discussed when you are sitting around a table at a conference with your peers. Thank you to all that have invested their time into making this report possible. I am sure that everyone that reads it will take something away that will either increase their knowledge or create a direction for their firm/practice.” Tammatha Denyes CPB |
“As a sole proprietor or the member of a smaller firm, it is very difficult for me to measure how my firm is performing with reference to technological progress. Compared to my peers, am I spending enough on technology training? Am I falling behind with respect to hardware and operating systems? Is my software up to date? Am I leading edge or “bleeding” edge? The accounting and bookkeeping operations and technology survey helps me evaluate where my firm is performing well and where I need to focus more of my time and effort. It’s a great tool for gauging my firm’s technology profile.”

“The 2019 K2E Canada Inc. Accounting and Bookkeeping Operations and Technology Survey is chock full of valuable information for the industry. It is comprehensive and provides amazing insights. I found the results interesting with regards to how accounting firms replied and how bookkeeping firms replied to the same question. Both the similarities and differences on how the current technology disruptions are being perceived and adopted by both parties are clearly identified. Alan and his team did an excellent job of noting the differences and similarities where relevant.
I also appreciated the category breakdown methodology used. The reader can compare apples to apples because we are given the size and legal identity of the respondents, broken down in each question. This is Incredibly important when the reader is doing a comparison of their own journey of change and adoption. Alan provides a brief analysis and opinion of the results per questions, which is helpful for planning, prioritizing, and budgeting investments that should be considered. Training stands out as a neglected area of concern to ensure continuous growth. It is exciting that this will be an annual survey and I look forward to next year’s results to help guide us all into the future of our industry. “ Dianne Mueller FCPB |
“Anytime I get a phone call from Alan Salmon, I know it’s going to be a great chat. So over the last little while, as he dropped tiny nuggets of survey results into our conversations, I knew the survey report would be a treasure trove of amazing data. And it has not let me down.
As a former practitioner, thought leader, and now Sage colleague there are so many ways to dig in, dissect and use the information contained in this report. As a practitioner I’d be interested in how my business and I fit in or compare with the responses presented with each question – am I ahead of the curve or following the crowd, and how does that affect my clients? As a thought leader, I’m fascinated at how I can continue to speak to and support this industry through this accounting transformation as we see results shift from previous surveys. As a Sage colleague, I am reassured that we are going exactly in the direction we need to for our product and program development as we look forward, anticipating the needs of Accountants and Bookkeepers. All of these things are exciting and challenging and timely. This survey report is a must-read for anyone connected to the Bookkeeping and Accounting profession in any capacity.” Rachel Fisch CPB Accountants Group Leader – Sage Canada |
