We now get a first look at where Microsoft is going with artificial intelligence in Excel. In my Office 365 version of Excel I should be able to check out the Excel Insights. Can’t wait. My thanks to Mynda Treacy for this excellent analysis.

Excel Insights

Understanding your data and creating Excel charts has never been easier with Excel Insights.

Excel Insights is an AI powered service that automatically identifies patterns in your data and provides you with charts you can insert into your workbook. And because it is powered by machine learning it will provide increasingly advanced analysis as usage grows.

Note: This feature is being made available on a gradual basis over several weeks. It will first be available in English to Office Insider participants, and later to Office 365 subscribers. If you are an Office 365 subscriber, make sure you have the latest version of Office.

Outlook Now Lets You Avoid Distractions on Android and iOS

This is something that Microsoft should have done a long time ago. It will be particularly useful when I am in meetings.

Microsoft is testing a new update for Outlook on Android and iOS that will help users reduce distractions. The company is introducing an in-app Do Not Disturb feature that will let you turn off notifications for new emails and events when you want to focus on work or life.

The new Do Not Disturb lets you mute notifications for an hour, until the next day, during events, during work hours, and more importantly, during weekends. This means you can get your mind off work when you are enjoying your weekends, and don’t have to worry much about an upcoming project deadline, or something similar.

Microsoft is also updating some of the other Office 365 apps on mobile — Word now shows word count when you scroll on Android and iOS, you can now share images from PowerPoint on Android, you can now view comments and notes on PowerPoint for Android, delete contacts on Outlook for Android, and sync draft emails on Outlook for iOS. Facebook's New Security and Privacy Settings

6/18/2018

I wish that this had been in place when I changed my Facebook privacy settings late last month. It took me about ten minutes and countless clicks.  I look forward to testing it when it's launched. Stand by for an update when that happens.

In an effort to untangle itself from its user data scandal, Facebook announced that it’s redesigning its settings menu on mobile devices. It will consolidate privacy options in one place, rather than sending users to 20 different screens. The new Privacy Shortcuts menu will let users regulate the amount of personal information Facebook keeps on them, such as political preferences and interests, and delete things they’ve already shared. It will also let people manage the information the company uses to show ads. (Source: Bloomberg)
